St. Mark's Lutheran Church Youth and Family Ministry

Youth Group is for grades 7-12 at St. Mark's Lutheran. Here, students connect with God and each other; they explore and live out their faith in community. When students relate their daily lives to Biblical truths, they develop a stronger faith that can withstand the complexities of the teen years and adulthood. St. Mark's provides this space for connection, reflection, service, and fun! Email Youth Director Alice Real at handbells@stmarks-elca.org with questions or to be added to the mailing list.

Important Youth & Family Ministry Update

St. Mark’s has a new Director of Youth and Family Ministry! St. Mark’s bell director (and budding organist) Alice Real has been offered and accepted the position. We are excited to welcome her into this new role. Alice has been part of our St. Mark’s family for ten years and has already worked with most of the congregation’s English-speaking youth in Sunday school, VBS, children’s choir, or youth bell choir. Please pray for Alice and our families as we begin this new and exciting chapter.

Hello Everyone! … From Pr. Albert

Sunday School and Youth Ministry Retreat

Three of St. Mark’s family accompanied by Harriet, Alice, Jim, and Pastor Albert participated in a church family retreat from Friday through Sunday, August 4-6, 2023. The original plan was to spend the time at Pohick Bay Regional Park. It was decided instead to camp out on the church grounds. Yes, the tents you saw behind the Friendship House were St. Mark’s families and not our Scout Troop 881. We enjoyed games, food, fellowship, a campfire, homemade ice cream, smores, and a day at Cameron Run water park. We finished with worship at St. Mark’ on Sunday.

Youth Altar Servers

Everyone, please check your emails to find a message from Mrs. De La Tejera about serving on the altar. She has created a schedule. Please look it over to see if the dates you are assigned to work. If you cannot serve one Sunday, please ask another youth to fill in for you. If you are unable to serve generally, please contact Mrs. De La Tejera or me.

What am I missing?

I’m sure to be forgetting something! Don’t hesitate to let me know!

God loves you and so do I,
Pr. Albert
