HYPOTHERMIA WEEK at St. Mark’s … Sunday, March 21 thru Sunday, March 29, 2026
St. Mark’s will once again open its doors to host the FACETS Hypothermia Emergency Shelter for seven nights, offering warmth, meals, and community to our neighbors experiencing homelessness. We are seeking volunteers and food donations to help provide hospitality throughout the week.
Shelter Schedule
Guests arrive Sunday evening, March 22, and depart the following Sunday morning, March 29.
Our partner congregations, St. Bernadette Catholic Church and St. John's Lutheran Church, will cover meals, overnights, and evening activities through Thursday, March 26.
Where St. Mark’s Still Needs Volunteers
Dinner & Brown Bag Lunch Prep (2 openings)—this may already be filled…
3-4 Hours: 6:00-10:00 PM
Responsibilities: Evening teams serve pizza, salad, and dessert at 6:00 PM and assemble brown bag lunches for the following day.
2 Volunteers (2.5 hour):
Friday, March 27, 5:00-7:30 PM
Fellowship & Evening Activities (2 openings)
3-4 Hours: 6:00-10:00 PM
Responsibilities: Spend time with guests after dinner, participating in games, activities, or conversation. Pre-arranged activities are offered to help build connections and foster community. Stay for an hour or the entire evening—your presence can make a meaningful difference!
2 Volunteers (3-4 hours):

Overnight Team Leader (4 openings)
6 hours: 10:00 PM-4:00 AM
Responsibilities: As the host, you will serve as the primary contact for FACETS' staff and overnight volunteers, helping ensure the safety and well-being of our guests.

Shelter Breakdown (3 openings)
1 Hour: 12:00-1:00 PM appx time (Maybe—will have to see what Wednesday schedule is.)
Responsibilities: Help load guests' belongings into the FACETS van.

Wednesday, April 1, approx time is 12:00-1:00 PM

Donations
Remember to bring the items you have volunteered to donate to church.
Other items you can donate are $15 gift cards from McDonald's for game prizes and raffles as well as small sizes of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothpaste, and other hygiene items.
